The Melbourne to Stanley Yacht Race is held annually in November. The 152-nautical mile race across Bass Strait begins at Queenscliff, Victoria and ends at the Nut in Stanley.

The destination, Stanley Wharf, comes alive with the 'Take a Kid Fishing' event which is run by Fishcare volunteers. Activities are organised for children and there are bands, entertainment and food stalls. Each year the event draws a big crowd of spectators.

The Melbourne to Stanley Yacht Race is organised by the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria. Tasmanian Ports Corporation provides berthing facilities for the competitors and also supports the festival.
